At Nina's we consider the outdoor environment to be as equally important as the indoor space.
We believe being outside supports the development of healthy and active lifestyles in offering children opportunities for physical activity, freedom and movement, whilst also promoting a sense of well-being. The outdoor space provides the children contact with the natural world and offers them experiences that are unique to outdoors, such as direct contact with the weather and the seasons.
Forest school sessions focus on children learning through hands-on experiences within a woodland setting. Activities such as tool use, den making, tree climbing, exploring plants and wildlife.
Our Forest school sessions are led by a Level 3 qualified Forest School teacher and aim to support children’s learning through problem-solving skills and nurtures their creativity, as well as providing rich opportunities for their developing imagination, inventiveness and resourcefulness.
All of our outdoor areas at Nina’s Nurseries, are secure and safe environments consisting of a grass area, soft play surfaces, large summerhouses equipped with lighting and heating for the use in winter as well, and climbing frames, all to help promote and stimulate development in all areas including gross motor skills, fine motor skills, balancing and co-ordination.
At Nina's we recognise the benefits that keeping pets within a setting has for the children. Having pets provides children with a wealth of learning opportunities, what animals need to live and the importance of taking care of them throughout the year. We certainly have a menagerie of animals for the children to care for across our nurseries. We have 2 chickens, 2 guinea pigs, a hamster and an array of goldfish!
Our chickens, Peri and Teddy live at our Offerton Nursery along with Minnie the hamster and Zazu and Barry the goldfish! Oak and Ivy our guinea pigs live with Bob the goldfish at Cale Green. We have more fish Goldie and Flipper who live at our Macclesfield nursery.
